Submerge the sheet into jewelers' pickle or a weak solution of nitric acid (photo 4). This bath will remove all color except that which is under the transferred image (photo 5). Thoroughly rinse the sheet. 3. Over-dye the aluminum with a second, contrasting color and seal the sheet (photo 6). Note: This 50 Anodized! method works best when the second dye choice is darker than the first.
As you develop your practice, you may choose to mix favorite colors into a single bath. This makes over-dyeing unnecessary and helps you to attain consistency.
